An intensive Jazz course in a supportive environment, with encouraging tutors. An opportunity to focus on developing skills required for working with a band or ensemble.
On your instrument you will be guided to explore improvisation, jazz harmony, and repertoire. Work in a rhythm section and prepare group performances. Nightly organised jam sessions (outdoor) and a finale concert in the square involving all attendees, plus International professional musicians invited to perform Friday and Saturday evenings. Individual coaching on solo and lead performances from tutors. Focus on working with a band and developing band leading skills - workshop daily with a rhythm section. Areas covered include: Jazz theory for singers, harmony, chord structures, scat improvisation. Voice production breath work, song interpretation and phrasing, microphone technique and voice care. Communication with band including feel, tempo, arrangements
All instrumental students will have time with a professional on their instrument (where possible). Explore a wide variety of repertoire and improvisation approaches with specialised workshops. Harmony, aural training, daily band or combination workshops. Repertoire will cover a wide range of styles from jazz standards, blues, and latin with an emphasis on improvisation.
Renown as one of the UK's finest jazz vocalists having released 13 albums. Trudy has a passion for teaching and is currently completing a Masters in Music Education and is a fellow of Higher Education Academy. She teaches at Trinity Laban and and London College of Creative Media and is co-founder jazzsingingschool.com
Saxophone / Composer
A busy session musician, composer and arranger for commercial music and films, Brandon is a Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has opened for many artists such as Pat Metheny, Jools Holland, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond Camille Bertault, Stefano Di Battista and Beverley Knight and more. He regularly tours with Kyle Eastwood and performs at Jazz Festivals across the world.
Bass / Producer
A professional musician for over 30 years Geoff has worked with artists including; Van Morrison, Dianne Reeves, Michel Legrand, Charlie Watts, Jamie Cullum and Sting. He has appeared on 100's of recordings and has toured the world many times. For the last decade, Geoff has turned to music production and is Professor of Jazz at LCCM.
Vocal Tutor and Yoga Teacher
Karen is a professional singer and contemporary vocal coach. She has been an Associate Lecturer in Voice at Surrey University and currently teaches Jazz singing at City Literary Institute. She runs a private vocal coaching studio in London and has recorded and self-produced 6 albums to critical acclaim. She has performed at Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express and around the world including: Sicily, Portofino, Nice, Monte Carlo Berlin Bucharest and Cape Town.
Christopher is a highly in demand musician and teacher of Piano, Keyboards, Composition and Music Theory. He has worked as an ambassador and educator for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Since moving to London, he has completed a Masters in Performance at the Guildhall graduating with Distinction. Christopher works at the Guildhall as an accompanist and vocal coach. Performances include Ronnie Scotts, Steinway Hall, The Barbican, The Vortex and Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho.
One of London's most in-demand guitarists, Dominic is a professor of Jazz Guitar at Trinity Laban Conservertoire London. An active freelance player who has toured with Carol Kidd, Michael Garrik, Paul Jones and more. Awarded "Jazz Guitarist of the Year" at the 2006 Birmingham Jazz Awards.
Andrea has had a varied recording and performing career: in pop and folk music he has worked with Hazel O’Connor, Jerry Dammers (The Specials) and American sax player Bob Martin. A founding member of UtterJazz with Jonny Gee and Ruthie Culver, extensively touring their album Look Stranger, in 2013.

Villa Allegra is situated in the walled, protected village of Pieve Di Compito, where Prince William and Kate - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - spent their honeymoon in 2011. Pieve and Sant Andrea di Compito are together known as the Borgo delle Camelie.
Villa Allegra is a 17th Century former farmhouse at the foot of Monte Pisano hills, between Lucca and Pisa. It's a perfect base in Tuscany for combining the excitement of the art cities of Florence, Pisa and Lucca.
AMENITIES - Free resident car parking, Free highspeed internet, Pool, restful gardens and recreational lower lawn. Tennis courts 5 minutes on foot, Touring bikes available on request, Local village shop and local bar.

Both venues are 3 mins walk from the main square where the final concert will take place.
PISA – is the nearest airport from which we will co-ordinate transfers.
FLORENCE – you would need your own transfer or by train to Lucca.
ROME – would require a train journey (3hrs) we could collect you at the train station in Lucca.

Although lovely at both Villa Allegra and Villa Orsi – please note these older style venues have a rustic charm but might not be considered luxury accommodation. Both venues have their own pools.
